The College Union is the official representative body of the students, functioning under the democratic framework prescribed by the University of Calicut. It serves as a vital platform for students to express their views, develop leadership qualities, and actively participate in the academic, cultural, and social life of the institution. Acting as a bridge between the student community and the administration, the Union fosters unity, discipline, and responsibility, shaping socially committed and competent teacher trainees.
The College Union Election is a democratic process conducted every academic year under the guidelines of the University of Calicut. Held typically in September, it allows students to develop leadership skills, participate in decision-making, and shape the academic and cultural environment of the college. The elected union collaborates with the staff advisor and administration to represent student interests.
Represent the interests and welfare of students.
Organize cultural, literary, and sports activities.
Promote leadership, responsibility, and civic sense.
Maintain strong relationships between students, faculty, and administration.
Presides meetings, represents students, ensures smooth functioning.
Assists the Chairperson and presides in their absence.
Keeps records, coordinates daily union activities, liaises with administration.
Supports the General Secretary, manages events, acts in their absence.
Represents the college at the University Union Council.
Organizes arts, culture, and youth festival participation.
Leads the editorial board, edits and publishes the college magazine.
Leads sports activities and promotes participation in athletics.
Voice class concerns, assist in communication between union and students.
After the declaration of results, an Oath Taking Ceremony is conducted in the presence of the Principal (Patron), Staff Advisor, faculty members, and students. The elected members pledge to uphold institutional values, work for student welfare, and promote unity and integrity in all union activities.
