The college library is a central hub of academic learning, research, and creative development.
All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the library to enhance their knowledge,
academic performance, and reading habits. The following policy must be observed for the effective
and respectful use of library resources. The college library serves as the academic heart of the
institution, supporting teaching, learning, and research activities by providing access to a wide
range of resources in a conducive environment.
Key Features of the Library
- Extensive Collection: The library houses a rich and diverse collection of academic resources, including textbooks, reference books, encyclopedias, journals, magazines, and newspapers. The collection is regularly updated to keep pace with the latest developments in various disciplines.
- Digital Library Access: Access to e-books, online journals, and educational databases, both on-site and remotely.
- Automated Library Management System: Advanced software for efficient cataloging, issuing, and tracking of books, with easy search functions.
- Reading and Reference Section: Quiet, well-lit reading space and a dedicated reference section for in-library use only.
- Reprography and Printing Facility: Photocopying and printing services available at nominal rates.
- Book Bank Facility: Support for economically disadvantaged students through semester-long textbook loans.
- Research Support: Access to academic journals, dissertations, and citation assistance (APA, MLA, etc.).
- Library Orientation: Comprehensive introduction for new students to maximize resource use.
- Library Timings: Open on all working days from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with extended hours during exams.
Library Conduct and Ethics
- Maintain strict silence inside the library at all times.
- Keep the library neat and clean.
- Mobile phones must be switched off or in silent mode; usage is prohibited.
- Respect the library as a space for academic and creative work.
- Handle all resources with care and ethical responsibility.
- Deposit bags and personal belongings at the property counter.
- Follow librarian instructions and all official codes.
Library Rules
- Library Timings: Open from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on all working days.
- Purpose and Environment: Serious reading and research only; silence and discipline required.
- Mobile Phones: Not permitted; must be kept on silent.
- Personal Belongings: Bags and items must be kept at the property counter.
- Care of Library Property: Damage to books or property will be dealt with seriously.
- Membership: Available to faculty, students, and staff upon application.
- Book Borrowing Eligibility:
- Teachers – Max 6 books
- Students/Staff – Max 3 books
- Borrowing Period:
- 15 days with borrower’s ticket; renewable for another 15 days if not reserved.
- Reserved books cannot be renewed; reservations allowed.
- Late Return Fine: Rs. 1/day for overdue books.
- Lost or Damaged Books:
- Replace with same/latest edition OR
- Pay 4x published price + 20% procurement charges + any overdue fines.
- Borrower’s Tickets & Transfer Certificate:
- Tickets must be returned before receiving Transfer Certificate.
- Lost tickets – Rs. 30 fee each.
