Our college houses a well-structured set of Core and Additional Departments that work in synergy to offer a holistic and practice-oriented teacher education. Each department is led by experienced faculty and is committed to academic excellence, professional ethics, and innovation in pedagogy.
These are the foundational academic units responsible for subject-specific teacher training under the B.Ed programme.
The Department of English Education is dedicated to enhancing English language proficiency and teaching competence among future educators. The curriculum integrates literature, linguistics, language acquisition, and modern methodologies. Students gain exposure to interactive techniques, lesson planning, language labs, and creative writing to become effective English teachers at the secondary level.
This department nurtures analytical and logical reasoning among teacher trainees. With a strong focus on pedagogical content knowledge, it trains students to present abstract mathematical concepts using innovative teaching aids, models, and ICT tools. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, and inclusive practices in mathematics classrooms.
Focused on Physics and Chemistry teaching, the department offers a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on experimentation. This department provides a deep understanding of the philosophical roots of education. It engages students in dialogue around ethics, value education, metaphysics, and epistemology. It aims to produce reflective teachers with a commitment to social justice and human values.
The Department of Psychology empowers student-teachers with the ability to understand learners’ mental, emotional, and cognitive needs. It covers child and adolescent development, learning theories, motivation, intelligence, mental health, and classroom management strategies. Psychological assessments and case studies are part of the training.
The IT department is central to digital literacy and modern pedagogy. Students are trained in smart classroom technologies, educational software, e-content creation, and cyber ethics. The department supports online teaching, virtual platforms, and digital assessments.
A hub of creativity and expression, this department fosters artistic talents through visual arts, vocal/instrumental music, and craftwork. It also promotes art-integrated learning methodologies, using art forms like puppetry, mural painting, skits, and storytelling to enhance teaching outcomes.
This department promotes physical well-being, teamwork, and leadership among student-teachers. Activities include yoga, aerobics, sports events, and fitness training. It also offers insights into health education, nutrition, and physical development of school students.
Serving as the academic backbone, this department provides courses in the foundations of education, curriculum development, educational leadership, policy studies, research methodology, and inclusive education. It also oversees practicum, school internship, and continuous professional development.
